I feel like putting my .02 in. I know it's the beginning of summer , but I feel like this club should really kick it into gear. Where are the meets? Car events? etc? Time's a-wasting! I know there's something coming up at the Bayside Expo center, but what are we doing as a group? I'd like to see more events scheduled and stuff. Maybe a monthly meeting....such as, meeting at such-and-such time at such-and-such place every month--it's a guaranteed thing, yanno? I don't see too many people posting on here, but yet we have like, 40 something members?? What's the deal? There certainly weren't that many people at the last meet at Sandy Beach...come to think of it....oh wait! That's right! There were only 3! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU PEOPLE?! I know I don't post too often, but I check this forum every other day to see if there's some kind of life leftover. I'm actually kinda disappointed in the lack of enthusiasm this group is projecting. Does anyone else feel the same way or am I just being a bitch? And, if others DO agree with me, what can we do as a group to change things? 'Cause...if this club could be best described as anything right now, I think the image of an injured goldfish in a tank...stuck to the bottom and on it's way to meeting it's creator would be a good way to describe this club right now. Like I said, it's just my .02....

40 something? we have 49 members, of those 49... %50 have <=1 posts....almost all the posting is done by about %20 of the board....and in terms of having another meet, I'll be out of town on the 12-14th..but if anyone wants to goto British or Italian car day at the Museum of Transportation, I'd be up for that.

The thing you attended, CinnamonGirl, was a non-BSCC event. The last meet we had was on May 11th and was a successful meet even though several members backed-out. I believe it is time to start thinking about another BSCC meet.
I am not opposed to a regular meet schedule. I think I'd like the location to change from meet to meet--come to think of it, we haven't had an event south of the city at all. At any rate, I'd like to see more action here as well. And what brings more action? More members. What brings more members? Existing members and their big mouths. So on all those other message boards we post on, we should do some word-of-mouth advertising for the BSCC. Add a link to the site in you sigs or harrass people you know in the area until they give in and become souless extensions of the BSCC's will.
I was talking to a guy that does industrial printing about car club stickers the other day and trying to find a group discount. What I would ideally like to do is provide all of you with membership packets. A shirt or cap or key chain-thing with a tasteful window sticker and a pack of coupons to establishments that will offer discounts to our club members. This can all happen with group effort. There would have to be some sort of "club dues", that shouldn't exceed twenty-dollars, ideally. I think it would be very cool to get all this stuff going, but we need more members, more content, and more organization.
I spoke to grand-exhaulted Moderator Thug recently about providing some content in the form of a review of his F1 Racing attendance in Canada--something suitable to publish on our main site. While I think the effort was great, I don't feel comfortable posting a completely plagerized article from another web site.
We'll have to see how everything works out and how the group responds to this, but I DO feel it is time to start palnning the next meet. Who's with me?

I'd be all for a meet south of the city. I'm not sure how many people would be up to it, but there are some nice cruising places down here. More specifically, Newport. (but that may be a haul for most of you) I can't think of too many places between RI and Boston that would make a good meeting place. I dunno? We could stretch our horizons a little more and talk about the Cape? Just some ideas.
Club packets sound like a good idea. According to our member list, we have enough people, they just need to participate. Is there any way of contacting these people to let them know about BSCC stuff just in case they aren't reading the boards? (which I'm sure they aren't) Also, getting a discount at car parts stores would be doable. However, in order to save money, one has to spend money...I agree--we just need more active members. I don't think Delhux should be doing all the work just because he's the head of this club. Maybe , when we come up with a "to do" list, we could sort things out so everyone has a "project" to accomplish for the club. Things will get done faster and perhaps more effeciently.

More real life recuiting won't help, and I don't think more online recruiting will help either. This group already spreads more fliers than any other group I'm part of, and in terms of activity, is dead last. I think what we're lacking is a critical mass of active members..people who'll make at least 5-10 posts a day. "if you build it(in this case, a community), they will come
also, if we had a DSM owner here, that would help. (the New England DSM group is fairly active)

I agree and seem to recall having posted something like this a while ago, that no one took note of...but don't worry I'm not bitter. ;D Anyway, I fully agree that this site needs more content and although I did borrow an article from www.speedtv.com it's technically not plagiarized because I technically cited the source and didn't try to take credit for it myself. Also, in my defense, I only borrowed the article because I have misplace all of the notes and facts that I had written up for myself. Anyway, I like the idea of a car sticker, and I think Yakbo is absolutely correct when he says we need more people to post actively. I think THAT is gonna be what makes this car club good. More content comes from more people chatting it up and making discussions in the forums. I still believe that the home site needs more than a rarely updated calender....a NEVER updated "News" section, and a painfully bare memebers section. I don't wanna rag on the site or anything Hux...I just think some constructive criticism is due from my big mouth. ;D What if we had a more involved pictures section? What about a review of the cars of the memebers, written up by a member? I suggested this before, and offered my services before, but I figure now is a great time to bring it up again. I don't know what else to write other than, more is good...and we need more. Tell us what to do oh mighty leader Delhux!

I agree with the meet situiation. The way I see it there is no interest in meeting.(sorry)Everybody on this board has an excuse to why they can't go to any meets.(including myself). I have been to over 15 meets this year with fellow Firebird/Camaro owners.Just went to NY Friday to meet up with them. I would love to get a meet going on this board, but it needs to be a group effort.I see alot of people around 20 yrs old on this board that can't make anything because they say there to busy to make it--B.S.To build this Club strong you need to make sacrafices and put the Club first.
Sorry about this post, just sick of seeing the lame ass excuses people have posted.I'm up for a southern meet.

I'm not a big fan of putting stickers on my car to promote a club. They generally look silly & there are so many dumb names like XXXtreme Creationz or anything that uses a 'z' in place of an 's'. I have a small sticker from my Cougar club that simply says "NECO Northeast" and takes up about a 6x3 area on my hatch an that's all I'd like.
I think what this club lacks in making it a real club is funding for most of the members. Some of us can't tweak out our cars like we'd want because we don't drive a car that will readily take a good mod or they barely make anything (like in my case). My excuse is funding because my g/f & me just bought a house. So much of what I do to my car is figuring out how Ford detuned the Duratech engine from 300hp to 170...

well I flat out won't put any stickers on my windows or C pillar. And it's not a lack of funding that's holding back this club. As Slowhawk said, we need comitment. I signed up for another New England area car club that started this March, and we got 11 people for a meet today. (we also had the worlds rudest waitress, but that's another story)

I totally agree with Yakbo. It doesn't matter on what you drive. It's about having fun with other people that like cars.If the people in the group feel that they have to out do the next or have the best/fastest car then the club will go no where.I for one respect what anyone drives if they are proud of the Car themselves.
So lets get a meet together to enjoy ourselves and B.S on a topic we all like--CARS ;D

Why don't we plan a meet for something fun, then? (instead of meeting in a parking lot) Do you guys have any ideas? We need input from everyone, not just one person. We could talk about this forever; sure, we can discuss everyone's opinions on this topic, but we also need to DO something about it.
I'd also like to remind everyone, (as a person, not as a car enthusiast) to keep an open mind.
So, what are we gonna do about a meet, eh?

HMMMM,A meeting place is hard to think of.I personnaly like meeting in parking lots or places to just hang out.We could meet at F1,but it's a little pricey to race there if your short on $$$.Maybe the drive in Movies in Mendon. An ice cream shop somewhere.(it is hot out)Down on Cape Cod canal(nice rest stop areas there).I will be very limited on time very soon since I'm scheduled to be a Dad in a couple of weeks, but I will try to make wherever the next meet is.

I've come to the conclusion that F1 isn't worth it for walk in racing. $35 for <5 minutes of racing is just too much. (I guess that's what the market will bear though)
We could all meet up for lunch/dinner and then find a spot (preferably out of the sun) to hang out in afterwords.
