Who knows what about engine swapping?
I've got a busted up 22Re engine and i'm in the market for a new one, but I'd also be interested in looking into a higher output engine.
Someone earlier mentioned a Supra's heart, but I'm not sure how possible that'd be.
Any suggestions, input, or just comments??
How would i go about determining what engine would fit? Or if it'd be worth it... i.e. what else would need to be swapped (transmission?)...

You should be OK using the same tranny. Car companies will use the same tranny on most of their models to keep costs down, so they'll build one that can take a good range of power. As for the engine, you'll need to look into what other cars Nissan had that shared your engine (or if yours could take the next size up). Also look into their subdivisions, I dunno who else Nissan owns but if it's like Ford (Lincoln, Mercury, Jaguar...) you might have a selection.
For example, my car:
I can use an engine from the 2.5 SVT Contour which would be a direct swap or I could use the 3.0l from a 99+ Taurus with some moving around. Someone on the Cougar board found that even a Lincoln LS engine is possible (V6 model) and those put out good power. I can even steal some headers off the new Jaguar X-Types.

Meanwhile.... 4Runner's are Toyotas...not Nissans, but thanks for the input...i've been looking into getting a V8 form one of the newer SUVs from Toyota...still not sure what to do tho...

Here's a solution for your auto-woes. It is a car whose concept is rooted deeply in Newton's Third Law of Motion: When an object exerts a force on a second object, the second object will exert a force of equal magnitude, and opposite direction on the first object . Shamefully the "balloon" platform has been seriously underdeveloped in the last 400 years. On the "Plus" side, you will have very little need to whine about the high prices of gasoline and America's reliance on foreign oil; all you will need is at least one lung or a moderately-sized bicycle pump. And since you will not be burning any fossil fuels for propulsion your new vehicle will be Earth-friendly and put out a very low decible level while in operation. Also, the cardboard framework will reduce overall vehicle weight and will make the chasis virtually rustproof, however the slightest bit of water will warp it all to hell. Even with that downside in mind, however, mechanical upkeep costs would be astronomically low in comparrison to other "efficient" cars of today; lubrication would be a non-issue, heating and fuel concerns would be a thing of the past, and worrying about flat tires would be about as important as changing the spark plugs. I'll even help you build it, how many friends would do that? www.txu.com/us/ourbus/elecgas/knowledge/teachers_lounge/ideas/images/idea_rocket_car.gif[/img]

Sure, but why not just glue actual rice to the body instead?
