I've heard good and bad things about every system on the planet. Do you guys have any personal thoughts on what the best is?
I've heard that the new Sony Xplod stuff is pretty good, but due to the Sony brand name, it's expensive. I've heard great things about those Bazooka subs too....i've got no clue honestly. I'm more into the go fast aspect of cars, but after trying to turn up a stock Toyota stereo, I desire a better system.

I've got a Kenwood deck with 6.5 Infinty speakers in the doors and 5x7s in the rear and two ten inch Jensen subs in a bandpass box being run off of a Phoenix Gold series amp. I like the sound even though the morons who put my Infinity's in routed the 45Wx4 Kenwood deck through the factory amp so it gets distorted at high volume levels. I will be bypassing the factory stock amp as soon as I can, and then getting another amp to run the four Infinity speakers. Of course by the time I add another amp I WILL be needing a cap (as I've seen from Jackal's system).

My Delco pumps out a killer 10w to high-tension yarn which I got hooked up to some Dixie cups (for hot beverages) 12fl oz baby!
For Xmas I'm getting (asking for) Boston Acoustic Rally Components RS620's. They 6 1/2's with a seperate tweeter. I'm also getting a sick deal from a kid in my car club who's selling his BA 10" Component Sub for $60.

I've had good luck with Sony and Kenwood amps. My last stereo had a Kenwood excellion head unit with a Kenwood excellion 501 and 401 amps. When tied together it has a lot of fetures(spell) like frequency cut off points,Bass boost, front, rear, and sub controls. All from the deck.

Kicked around Circuit City today for a while and found out a bunch of info on what I want.
I'm lookin' at the Xplod Head unit that plays MP3's, Xplod mid-rangers...and I'm thinking MTX subs. I was listening to the Xplod subs and just wasn't all that happy with them. They seem to have a shorter bump to them than the MTX's. The MTX's sound much more rich and they have a long deep bump that I'm looking for.

My setup: *Eclipse 5440 deck (a nice, simple & clean player) *Boston Acoustics 5x7 components up front w/ 1" tweeters (300RMS capable) *Boston Acoustics 5x7 in the rear (150RMS capable) *Rockford Fosgate 800a4 amp pushing 100 watts RMS to each of four channels for the speakers *two Polk ex104 10" subs in an enclosed box (400RMS capable) * Rockford Fosgate 250a2 amp pushin 125 watts RMS to each of the subs * Monster cables all around
I really want some MTX subs in a bandpass box... that's the only thing that I could change in my system to make it better without spending over $500. That and a 1 farad cap...

Oh yea...any suggestions on caps? Is there any one brand that's better than the others or do they all operate on the same level?

Rockford Fosgate is supposed to be really good. A 1 farad goes for around $150.

So I got all the shit I asked for for Xmas. I haven't installed the strut bars yet since I don't know if I'm keeping the car.
I must say that I'm not a big fan of loud bass. I hate hearing a car 4 blocks away and listening to it rattle apart. I listen to mostly rock & some techno so I just needed the extra 'punch'.
This 10" Sub is F'n loud. After my friend & I installed it he threw in a Bass Freq. testing CD and it hurt sitting in the car. Best part is you can't even really hear it outside the car. I'm waiting on talking to my local Ford dealer about trading up before installing the new speakers & everything else.
