I want to pick up a set of Cobra R style rims, preferably in polished aluminum. I've seen a set by "Detroit Wheels" on www.whalentire.com for $159/piece. Those are 17x9 rims, I would go for that size or 17x8. If I get the 17x9's, I'd also get some 255/45/17 tires. So if anyone has some good leads on any items like this, I'd appreciate a "head-ups". Thanks, -Dave

TireRack is the place where I always see the best prices for tires. Awesome all-season tires are Pirelli P7000 SuperSports. They're a tiny bit noisier than stock, but it's only noticable when you have the windows up and have the stereo off. I also hear incredible things about Michelin Pilot A/S, that they are all-season that perform like summer tires, but they're more pricey. At last check, Pirelli was like $165 each, and Michelin was around $240 each.

The michelins are hands down better, and they are quiet. But as you stated, they are pretty pricey. MY .02

I just bought a set of Kumho Excsta Supra 712's 245/45/17's for $100 each off www.tirerack.com. For all 4 tires it cost me about $450 with shipping. I used to have Pirelli P7000 Supersports on my 16" rims. I loved these tires and would have gone with them but they were $180 in 17" sizes. Since i switched to the Kumhos, i noticed they are about even in handing and wet traction. Another ODD thing i notice is they are a bit softer than the pirellis in sidewall rigidity. The 17" rims ride softer than my 16" used to but it is stiffer in the turns. It doesn't make sense to me, but i don't mine. Dave, how about some '98 Cobra rims? They look like the Cobra R's but are a lot cheaper. I think I saw them for $125 each in silver and they come 17 X 8

www.tirerack.com/tires/kumho/ku_712.jsp255/40/17 $107 each It's what i have. Shipping is cheap and these tires are very good for the price. I used to have Pirelli P7000's before and these tires are just as good and maybe even a tad better.

I just put a set of Bridgestone Protenza RE730's on the Mustang. By far they are the best tire I have had, Dont let anyone tell you they are loud on the street because they are not. I will post a picture after I scan them. Heres some info of tires off of the Tire Rack www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/uhp.jsp

I did get 275/40's. If you were ever anywhere near a meet, you probably would've known this.
