I have 6k miles on my car now. It's time for the decision of running Synthetic or staying with non-Synthetic. I change my oil every 1500 miles. Think there is much benefit of running Syn.? Any brand you recommend?

If you're gonna go syn I'd recommend Castrol. I've heard nothing but good things about it and I know that they spend lots of money every year trying to make it high quality stuff. If not, you'll just gum up the parts. Syn does that a lot.

I've been using synthetic oil in 3 cars now. Switching from regular to synthetic on my 88 Ford Escort didn't seem to do anything. I've always used Mobil-1 syn in my 2000 Mustang. My 94 GT used regular, but then I switched to synthetic, and there was a HUGE improvement. Before my car had slight vibrations while idling. The whole car would shake a tiny bit, so the steering wheel vibrated too, which annoyed the hell out of me. As soon as I switched to synthetic, the vibrations disappeared forever! I doubt it was just a coincidence.
As far as which brand to use, I hear tons of good stuff about both Mobil-1 and Castrol. I've always used Mobil-1 though.

I've been using Mobil-1 since the first oil change and the engine seemed to run much smoother.
Then again, it's hard to tell cause I'm always romping on the gas to hear my exhaust & KKM.

Any brand you recommend? I went threw the same debate about 10,000 miles ago with my cobra. I chose to stay with regular non-synthetic oils. My reasoning is the same as you, I think. I change my oil about as often as you and it will get expensive fast. So are you really going to benefit from synthetic. (Probably not) I guess my theory (sp?) is if it did not come from the factory with it then you dont really need it. Remember once you go to synthetic you can not come back.

My main thought to go Synthetic is because the strain I put on the motor with the Nitrous. The money isn't much of an issue when I could get better protection against breakdown. I'm leaning towards Mobile one on my next change. This will be my 6th oil change in 6k miles.Man I think I'm going nuts

Go with mobil1, the quality can't be beat. Even if you beat on it I'd go 2k before changing it. It can handle the abuse. You're just throwing your money away by doing it that often. On the other hand it gives you a reason to tinker with the car ;D

I use Mobil-1 in my car in conjunction with a Mobil-1 low-torque oil filter. I have used this combo since the first time I changed her oil, and have had pleasing results. Actually, I need to change her oil soon (I think she is a bit overdue). Anyone have advice on changing oil in the cold? I don't have a heated garage to perform an oil change in, and will most likely be in sweats for the change. I wish I could use the garage at work for this, but I think security would throw me out . Anyone else change there oil outdoors in the winter?

If I were you I would definately go with the Mobil 1. I've used nothing but that in my Muskrat and it really gives me peace of mind if nothing else. If you take into account that at times the Vortech is spinning upwards of 40,000 RPM internally and there are no signs of sludge or breakdown when it comes out, I don't really see how theres any choice. Especially when your comb. temps are going to be comparable while on the bottle.

All synthetic bottles say that regular oil is good for 3000 miles but you can go for 5000 to 6000 miles with synthetic. It must be true since all the companies say the same thing, but I don't exactly follow it. I change my oil every 3000 - 4000 miles. Hey Slowhawk, when you start using synthetic, maybe now you won't have to change your oil as often as you fill your gas tank!
