What cars do you think can take the most abuse? Meaning, lasting the longest without doing any maintanence on it. Domestics in general don't seem to hold up very well without proper care. But I see a lot of beat-to-shit Subarus and Hondas on the road all the time. From the dumbfounded looks of the drivers, I can tell they haven't changed the oil since they got the car. What cars do you know of that have been totally neglected and still work with minimum problems?

My old tercel took a hell of a beating, as did my rx7. Not doing regular maintenance is not a good basis to see how a car will hold up. How many miles a car can go with regular maintenance and no major repairs is a good basis of comparison

My old '87 Chevy Nova, which is basicly a Toyota Corrola.
That wouldn't die no matter what. I hit a parked car after skidding on some ice & plowed the front end back to the radiator fan, $400 fixed it. Some bitch blew a stop sign & I swerved to avoid, hit a curb broadside & bent the car's rim. Wobbled home on that & got a new rim & she ran fine (no alignment probs). Some out of state fuckhead backed into my passenger side right along the frame between the doors, no frame damage & insurance covered the new door.
That along with sending the car flying over railroad crossings, snowbanks & all around tooling on it regular maintenance kept her mechanically sound for the 4 1/2 years I had it.
Bought it for $2,500 w/30k on it and sold it for $2,700 w/a new black paintjob & 60k. If I had to get a winter car it would definitly be that. Can't beat 40mpg.

Toyota's are the way to go. Except my friend had a 78 bonneville 4dr w/307ci that took a ton of abuse.2 trees head on,Got stuck on top of a snow pile in a stop and shop parking lot(8' in the air ;D)and made a daily round of hitting a neibors washing machine(ended up 5 miles down the road). Finally the cops came to his house and condemned his car,(road hazard)Still ran and drove great though.

Jackal, talk to SUL about beating on cars....he has gone like 6000 miles w/out an oil change and beats the hell out of it. His subaru Impreza is abused.

Last I heard that guy hadn't changed his oil since he bought the damn car. I'd say he's closer to 30,000 miles w/o an oil change.

I think the best is my friends chevy truck. 100k + and he decided to use motor flush. Needless to say a perfect running engine started knocking horribly within days and was replaced shortly after
