Ahhh this sucks. I dunno what went wrong. My back lights are working, my turn signals are working, and my brake lights are working. The lights behind the yellow reflectors in front are working too. But my left and right front headlights will not come on, and neither will my highbeams. On the dash my highbeam "icon" thing is constantly lit up now too. I guess it's signifying I have a problem. Do you think I just blew a fuse, or is it worse than that? I thought it might be a temporary alternator or battery problem so I shut off my stereo and unplugged my radar detector but that yielded no results. I also restarted the car a few times. This has been going on for two nights now. My 2000 Mustang manual is at home and I don't feel like going home too soon. If somebody's got a 99-02 Mustang, it would be great if you could look up the fuse info for me...

One of your headlights is out. When the voltage coming from the switch going to the bulb cant illuminate the fillament in the headlight, it backfeeds into the high beam indicator lamp. Both of your headlights run off the same power feed so if there is an electrical problem to one, you loose both. The Villagers have the same problem, only they short at the headlight connector. You should really check those as well. Good Luck.

How ironic....my headies don't work either, but the different thing is, my high's work, but not the lows. Also, the High light doesn't go on, even when the high's are engaged. Everything else works though.
How about that? I thought it was a fuse since I found out, but I don't get why the high's work, but not the lows...

So, I just need to replace both my headlights and that's it? Seems pretty simple, I guess.

Gasguzzler is sort of right as usual. Both lights are on the same circuit but it runs parallel so you don't lose both if one goes out. Also your high beams should still work if it is a burnt bulb. The easiest thing to do is check for voltage at the connectors. If there is no voltage you might have a ground problem, or worse a switch problem. Aren't you under warranty?

I am under warranty. The thing is, I'm using those HID-wannabe Xenon lights. They're the 80watt kinds. I don't know if that voids my warranty. I've searched through the Corral about headlights, and everybody who had to replace their switch had their highbeams working still. Nobody there or on Mustangworld has ever had the same problem as me. What do you suggest I do?

I've heard stories of people putting higher watt HID look alikes in there car and actually melting the wires going to the light. This is on Firebirds and Camaro's though. Could be a bad relay or fuse. I work in Boston if you don't figure it out.Maybe you can stop by my work and I'll take a look at it.

I wonder if you can back charge the light bulb company for a non-compatable product. I'd call them and threaten to sue them for f@#$ing up your car Well it's worth a shot

Good luck getting your money from the aftermarket company. You can buy bulbs for 10 a pop then get repair jumper connectors and replace your headlamp harnesses. Probably $15 each. Quick and easy to solder in. I would have gone to the junk yard and cut the harness connectors out of an escort or something because they are basically all the same if they are 9004 bulbs.

Oh man, that sucks. But weren't you aware of the dangers of those aftermarket xenon bulbs when you put them in? I thought you knew you were taking a risk, oh well sucks either way.

Well I knew of people on the Corral who used them, and I did a little bit of reading on them. I was wondering if harm would be done by running 80 or so watt bulbs in a spot made for 60, but I didn't find any info on it, so...
