This is mainly for Slowhawk, since he seemed to know the most about this conversion, but the rest of you can chime in if you know anything... I am still confused about what to do with the fuel pump situation when you change from CFI to the 4-bbl. I read somewhere that there are two pumps (one in tank and one in the frame rail), and that you can keep the intank one, and bypass the other. Will this work, or should i try to buy a new one? Also, will I need a Duraspark distributor, or can i keep the one i have. Thanks for the help...project time is fast approaching (march 10th is when it will hopefully begin) ;D

You could be fine with the stock pump and buy a regulater to tune it down .GM's run 15lb fuel pressure to TB's.Don't know about Fords.2 fuel pumps??? You will need a new distributer, since the computer will be obsolete. Also do you have a standard or auto?I'm guessing auto since your running CFI.So you'll have to do research to see if the computer controls the shift points for the tranny. Some advise:Add up how much money you think this will cost, then double it.Then you won't have heart faliure 1/2 way through the project.Just saying this because you might be in the ballpark of selling the car, saving the money you would of spent, and buying something faster that you want.

I think the trans is strictly mechanical aod. Slowhawk is right on the money situation. At some point you have to decide if it is really worth it. I just decided that I'm not going turbo. Instead I bought a lower lip kit and side skirts that is getting painted on tuesday and I'm currently saving for my b18c1 motor swap ;D

Thanks for the advise...I think i'm gonna forgo that project and just save my money to buy a newer car in the future. The chance of something going wrong combined with my bad luck with car projects and the size of the project is just too great a risk for such an old car. But thanks for saving me from having to learn the hard way! ;D

Everyone does it at least once. I had an 83 rx7 that I fully stripped and repainted inside and out, completely changed suspension, swapped a 13b street ported motor in, weber carb, full exhaust, fuel system rear axle brakes rims, interior mods roll cage and I almost gave the car away because I can't fit the family in one seat It was fun while it lasted.
