As the subject reads, my battery hates my stereo. My stereo is 650 watts RMS from eight speakers. Sometimes it takes longer than usual to start the car up, and sometimes my subs don't hit as hard as usual. A lot of the time my lights dim. This is all battery related (or at least I'm assuming so - correct me if I'm wrong. All the previous-listed problems do NOT happen if I keep my stereo off for awhile.) I know the best thing to do is buy a capacitor. But I don't want to deal with buying a 1 farad capacitor and then cutting wires. I'm not 100% sure what I have for a battery right now. It's whatever v6 stangs come with stock. If I get a "Gold" series battery, would I get any improvements?

My friends Coug has a big system & she put in a marina battery (yes, one for a boat). So that thing puts out enough power, it just needs to be mounted on its side cause it's big.

All your doing is beating on the charging system for the most part. Your alternator can't keep up with the spikes in amperage causing the dimming. Get a cap, spend fifteen minutes, and the problems will go away. A kid came into my work trying to claim his cougar under warranty because his alt died at 20k. Too bad he left his 1000w amp in the trunk hard wired

Durr. My dealer told me I voided the warranty on a problem I was having with my gas tank because they would have to lower my dual exhaust to get to it. But on the altenator thing, that kid was probably at fault. But you gotta hear how many others of us have had the Alt go bad. It's a well known problem. Mine is doing fine to my knowledge.
