Ok...dinner was good I'm back to elaborate. The reason I'm asking about this location is because it would be an awesome place to have a BSCC meet. You have several parking lots along the lake. The main lot, near the beach, can easily park between 30-50 cars. Each spot along the lake can also park about 5-7 cars minimum. There are about 4-5 of these smaller parking lots . At the main lot there is a BIG open field that we could easily set up a volleyball net or plenty of space for football, wiffle ball or pretty much any sporting event you want. There is also paved and unpaved trails along the lake and through the woods along the lake.
There is a small beach....yes with real sand and changing rooms and restrooms. People do swim here b ut I don't know how clean the water is. I've gone swimming there before and I'm still alive.....but maybe the water quality is to blame for my mental insufficiencies or more likely it was hitting that telephone pole head first with my motorcycle a few years ago.....that's another story for another day.....I didn't wake up from that one for 17 days...literally
.
Anyways......there are also picnic tables and grills there for public use along with lots of areas to hang out and relax before and after eating.
There is also fishing allowed here. It is MDC patroled so yes you should have a license to fish. I never have, but I fish maybe twice a year if that. They do catch bass and perch and lots of crappies or sunfish from this lake. I'm not sure if it's stocked but there are always fish to be caught. There are wooded sections where I suppose if you had a cooler you could bring some "Adult" beverages along with you or just bring the old "Mountain Dew" 20 oz bottle and replace the yellow Mountain Dew with the yellow substitute beverage
.
There is also another parking area that they open after Memorial day that ends with a cul-de-sac and you can park about another 20+ cars along this area.
The only downfall to this area is you have to get there pretty early in the day to get the good parking areas and picnic areas because "Spanish Nation" invades this place regularly on the weekends and quickly fills up the area. I've been going to this place, no lie , for about 26 of my 28 years of life! My parents used to take me there every weekend when I was little (2 years old) and we used to wash my dad's 1969 MACH1 Mustang there. So ofcourse that has become my car detailing area. I used to take my 1969 MACH1 Mustang down there every weekend to detail it and now I take my 2000 GT there every Saturday morning for detailing.
It's just a real peaceful special place for me that has been a part of my life for almost my whole life. There are lot's of nice people who walk along the lake and ride bikes and rollerblade along it also. Not to mention some quite attractive ladies who do likewise
. I'm sure you can find more of them on the beach tanning also.....you never know maybe they might want you to help them put some suntan lotion on their hard to reach places
.
I just think this would be a great place where you can bring more than just the guys to....meaning if you have a girlfriend or a "someone special" it will be just as much fun for her as it will be for you. That is what I'd like to try to accomplish. We need to find events that we can have our female friends involved in that is car related. It would just kick a$$ if we could make this hobby interesting to them aswell, thatway we can have a hobby in common!
I know there are lots of girls who like sportscars and even own and drive them. The problem seems to be that as men we are egotistical and somewhat motorheads and that usually turns girls away from joining us at our meets. We need to COMPROMISE and find more to do than just sit in a parking lot and talk modifications and horsepower! We can do that too....don't get me wrong, but having other fun events involved with the actual showing of our cars, like a bar-B-que (with or without adult beverages) and co-ed sporting events or even just suntanning where we can have some non-sportscar related conversation with our lady friends will make it that much easier to convince them to join us in our fun.
In short.....as you can see with me and my bigmouth there is no such thing as "in short".....in short,
I want to try to get events scheduled that even the girls would find entertaining! So ladies if you're reading this post and have ideas as to types of events that you'd like to take part in that could be BSCC related, please post them and in the immortal words of Jerry Meguire......HELP ME.....HELP YOU!
